Crocheting: Artist spotlight
Crocheting is a craft that I picked up while I was still in high school. I must have been on one of my kicks and thought, "why not learn how to crochet?" I'm fortunate to have come from a family of talented and crafty women, so when I showed an interest, my mom very willingly taught me the basics. I never did much with crocheting while I was in high school, but I recently discovered a crochet artist (because that's what he is) that has encouraged me to try to learn more about the craft. Meet Howie Woo, a talented crochet...
Update time…
Dear readers, I know you all have been holding your breathe waiting for a new post. Most of you have probably passed out by now. I apologize for your asphyxiation and my extended absence. Here's what's been going on since my last post: The job that seemed "oh so perfect" for me turned out to not be so perfect after all. Yeah, I would have had a lot of "free time" to work on crafts of my own, and yes it was easy money, but I feel at this point in my life, I don't need to...
What’s cooking?
I realize that this is very unsanitary, but it's also precious. And as a complete change of subject, I start my new job tomorrow. I'm going to be working at a place where I will learn how to use, demonstrate, and sell sewing machines. I will also have the freedom to work on projects of my own and come up with project ideas for the store. It will be another chance for me to exercise my more creative side and should give me plenty to blog about. So... expect more very...

For the most part, things around here have been rather uneventful lately. My A/C has been broken since Saturday night, and although the repairmen have already worked on it once, the problem has yet to be fixed. I'm predicting an outrageous power bill next month. I had to take Buster to the vet this morning to get his second round of shots. He was pretty energetic when we got home (as is normal for him), but now he's just sitting and staring at me with this look on his face: After about 5 or...
New addition to the family
I'd like to introduce you to my new baby, Buster. He is a handful, but I love him just the same. It has taken Mouse a little while to get used to her new brother, but I know pretty soon they'll be like two peas in a pod.

Today was an all around weird day. I'll hit the high points. I woke up to a loud crash in my dining room. When I emerged from my dark cave of a room, I discovered my new kitten Buster had knocked off a craft box of mine that housed all of my polymer clay supplies (pliers, earrings, key chains, a million small straight pins, other small objects). As I was cleaning the mess up in my sleep shirt, the doorbell rang. As most of the people I know rarely ring the doorbell, I knew it had to be someone else. I...
Tiny Tuesday
This week is the first week that I actually have time to myself, to do the things that I want to do. Most of my time consists of sleeping late, cooking and cleaning, but today I decided to get back to a craft that I habe abandoned and forgotten because of all of my other commitments (work and school). Last December, my boyfriend's sister, Jennifer, made me some really cute presents for Christmas out of polymer clay (one being this cute panda key chain). I was really inspired by her and...
Short stack kind of morning

One of the perks of living with me is that some days, or mornings, I get a wild hair and want to do something different. For the past few weeks money has been tight because it's the end of the month. One of the things that has been cut from my budget, regrettably, is fruit. Lately I have been craving fruit! Fortunately I got paid on Friday and went grocery shopping after work on Saturday. As you can imagine, once I was inside I made a bee-line for the fruit section and quickly grabbed some strawberries and bananas. This morning when I woke...
Sweet on many different levels

I recently went to Ft. Walton, FL for a nice week of relaxation with my family. One of my favorite accidental finds was this "sweet" double-walled hot and cold Starbucks tumbler. The cup alone deserves an entire post all its own, but that's not why I'm blogging today. Due to the fact that I work at arguably one of the most stressful/poorly managed places on the face of the earth, I tend to need a little boost to get me through my shift. Because it's the end of the month and money is getting a little tight, my much needed caffeine fix is something that...
Cream cheese brownies
Got your attention right? It's Monday and as most Mondays are, kind of uneventful. After dealing with drama at work, I decided to come home and try to accomplish some of the many projects I had to put off because of school. Sadly, I ran out of steam halfway through the project which was about the time my boyfriend came home from work talking about smoked chicken salads for dinner. I was lured away by the promise of a healthy dinner for a change. (After the Mexican food I ate for lunch, I needed a healthy alternative) As we were finishing the last bites of...
